Information for non-Marine Visitors

A Diverse Range of Users

The harbour is a great deal more than just a working harbour and a pretty backdrop to your cup of tea in the Harbour Cafe. The views are amazing and the Fife Coastal Path passes right around the harbour. The harbour is favourite spot for:

  • Walkers.... and a great stepping off point for Tentsmuir
  • Fishermen
  • Painters... the views up the river and across to the castle are astonishing
  • Photographers
  • Dolphin Watchers
  • Bird Watchers... keep your eyes open, there is a surprising diversity of especially waders
  • Historians - read the fascinating history of Tayport on this website
  • Dog Walkers
  • .... and just a really nice meeting place to sit, enjoy the views and watch the world go by

In time we would hope to populate this section of the website with pictures and experiences from arnage of visitors. If you do not mind us using your words or your pictures, please contact the Trust.

A walker's endorsement

I was with a group of ramblers from Monifieth Kirk when we walked part of the Fife Coastal path past the harbour. It is really nice to see how well used it is with all the boats bobbing about. The scenery plus the surrounding amenities made it a very pleasant outing and we were able to have our picnic watching the harbour activities.
Much appreciated,
